R&D Assistant - Bay Area

Position Summary

Our company is seeking to hire a skilled Research & Development Assistant to work alongside our R&D team in our Oakland diagnostic lab.

As a R&D Assistant you will participate in the design, administration and monitoring of clinical research. Analyze and evaluate clinical data gathered during research. Ensure compliance with protocol and overall clinical objectives.

This position requires a degree in biotechnology, biology or a related field. Candidates must have knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices and procedures within the biology field. Experience in or knowledge of a diagnostic laboratory setting is preferred specifically with nucleic acid extraction procedures, RT-PCR and ELISA experience in setting up and running assays following SOPs.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist Head of Assay Development with research and laboratory operations
• Design, execute, analyze, and report molecular biology experiments related to assay development
• Produce record of research experiments in LabGuru electronic laboratory notebook 
• Review and sign electronic laboratory notebook entries created by Head of Assay Development
• Background research related to assay development (e.g. primary literature review) 
• Write and review SOPs related to clinical lab procedures, laboratory equipment
• Research specimen/sample organization

Education and Qualifications

• Degree in in biotechnology, biology or a related field is required
• Diagnostic lab experience is preferred
• Familiarity with automated laboratory equipment
• Computer literacy and experience with Laboratory Information Systems
• Accuracy and close attention to detail
• Strong analytical judgement
• Verbal and written communication skills
• Experience working with lab equipment

Shifts

Monday through Friday, 8:00AM - 5:00PM, hours may vary depending on the company’s needs.

Experience

Compensation

$30-$36/Hour DOE
